October was a WILD month y’all. Between returning to work, celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary, seeing friends, etc. I feel like it was here and gone in a blink. It was not the greatest month that I’ve had side hustle wise because we were so busy (in fact I’ve already more than doubled my side hustle income for November) but I had my tried and true side hustles pull through! Let’s take a look at October’s side hustle report.
The Earnings
- Chase Ultimate Rewards: $66.65
- Enfamil: $20
- mPerks: $20
- Etsy: $5.67
- Upside: $21.45
- Survey Junkie: $14.19
- Branded Survey: $5.45
- Ibotta: $21.35
Total for the month of October: $174.76
The Breakdown
Chase Ultimate Rewards
I love using my Chase Ultimate Rewards for a variety of things. This month we booked some holiday travel and I used the Pay Yourself Back feature where my points are worth 25% more when I redeem them for specific purchases. This is a feature of the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. I also use their Chase Freedom card where there is not an annual fee but the rewards aren’t quite as high.
Enfamil
When we transitioned to formula for our baby I became a member of Enfamil’s rewards program. If you submit receipts, leave reviews, read articles, etc. you can earn points. This month I redeemed my points for a $20 reward that we can use towards our next purchase!
Mperks
I started tracking the rewards I was earning with Meijer’s loyalty program, mPerks, when they re-did the program earlier this year. I found I’ve earned way more rewards than before with pretty minimal effort. All you have to do is type in your number before checkout to earn! You can also clip coupons on their app and get customized coupons just for using it.
Etsy
I’m still working on my Etsy shop but am noticing more traction! It includes financial spreadsheets like my Net Worth Tracker and Monthly Budget Spreadsheet to help individuals track their finances. You can view the trackers by clicking here. I also need to note that the monthly budget tracker is Excel compatible as well as Google Docs – I just need to change the photos. I’m working on adding more to the shop as well!
Upside
Upside is a cash back app I have been using primarily on my gas purchases. They also offer cash back at select restaurants/fast food and some grocery stores. It’s pretty simple to use. You pick your gas station/cash back prior to filling up. Once you are at the station mark that you have paid or upload your receipt and cash back is added within 48 hours or so! They also have a pretty great referral program – if you sign up using this code: WJ9KW9 you will get $7.00 extra the first time you use the app!
Survey Junkie
Survey Junkie is a market research site that pays users for their opinions. I’ve been using it for past ~3 years or so because it’s a relatively easy way to make a few extra bucks every month. Literally I do this from my couch. They send guaranteed 1 minute surveys every day (sometimes two surveys depending on the day). Minimum cash out is 500 points/$5.00 so my monthly goal is always to hit that! I wrote an in-depth review on Survey Junkie you can read here if you are still on the fence.
Branded Survey
Branded survey is another market research site. The big pro with this company is that they have a loyalty program – the more surveys you take the more money you can earn! They also have daily guaranteed daily surveys where you can earn 5-10 points. Similar to survey junkie the minimum cash out is 500 points or $5.00 and the payout I typically choose is via PayPal. You can click here to sign up and earn extra points!
Ibotta
Ibotta is another app I have been using for years. I primarily use this app for cash-back on my groceries but they have expended so much over the years. This is a great app to use for cash-back on any purchases. I actually used it when I bought my dad’s birthday gift a few months ago online at Ace Hardware. You can use their app or download their browser extension when you are shopping online. Sign up now before Thanksgiving rolls around to get cash back on your turkey dinner purchases!
That’s a wrap on October! How are there only two months left of 2023? This was one of the lower earning months of the year but with multiple revenue streams I was able to generate a few hundred extra dollars. Luckily, as I mentioned, November is making up for that in a big way. Until next month!
